Effective Repairs Reporting

This is a genuinely learner-friendly course that gives front line staff the background training they need to deal competently with repair requests from your customers. It gives them a sound knowledge of the basic features and systems in the home without getting ‘too technical’ or having to take whole days out of their work schedule.

What does the course cover ?

The course comprises 4 modules, each with simple explanations and diagrams:

Structure
Water and drainage
Heating and electrics
Fixtures, fittings and outdoor features.

These give a thorough grounding for talking about different parts of the building and understanding how the various systems (water, drainage, heating and electrics) work in domestic homes. They will also learn:

facts about different components of a building and how they work
names of the different parts of fittings and fixtures
typical repair problems your customers present
what is likely to be damage by the householder
who is responsible for which repairs
how quickly to respond to different types of repairs bearing in mind health and safety issues.

How does it work ?

Once a learner is registered, we provide them with an ID and password to log onto the Omfax Learning Management System. We will also give them guidance on how to get started.

Studying at their own pace and to fit in with their workload, they will work their way through the different topics: reading the explanations, studying the simple line drawings and testing themselves as they go along. They can go back over the course content as many times as they like. Once they feel confident with the content of a module they can take a formal test.

Certification

When all the module tests have been completed, we issue a course certificate but only if at least the minimum pass level has been achieved in every module.

Through this rigorous testing we aim to set a benchmark standard that gives managers confidence that their staff ‘know their stuff’ and are giving customers a competent service.

Using the Omfax Learning Management System, managers can see how far each learner has got in the course and how much time they have spent on it. So, you can encourage and support them as they progress and make a judgement about when they are ready to take each module test.
